You out there, fans of RockBand and similar games, will certainly become found of this game instantly. ‘My First Songs’ for iPad is what you consider a toddler / preschooler intro for the world of rhythm and music games. Using traditional children songs the game is set around taping on cue, making points and ranking like your favorite RockBand-like game. A good intro to learning rhythm if you ask me. A extremely well produced game, certainly worth the buy.

Here is one of the most delicious apps I have come across to this date. Kids Song Machine is an app with 8 kids classic songs beautifully illustrated and full of interactivity. The songs versions were specially produced and recorded for the app and the illustrations are just mind blowing. At first one can think this is an app for babies or toddlers but it is so beautifully produced that older children get interested by it as well. When making a choice of what essencial apps to have on your touch device, make sure  to include this one.

Duck Duck Moose is one of the best companies developing apps for little kids out there. By the time this was posted  they had already published 5 amazing apps: BAA BAA BLACK SHEEP, FISH SCHOOL, ITSY BITSY SPIDER, OLD MACDONALD, WHEELS ON THE BUS. All extremely well produced with great music, interaction and illustrations

Baa Baa Black Sheep is their latest app release and it is a great all-in-one app. It is an interactive discovery puzzle game where kids have to go around looking for specific objects to match the required shapes. While they look for the objects, they get to browse through different scenarios and interact with the characters on the scenes while learning numbers, manners and listening to good music. At this point the app was out only for the iPhone / iPod Touch, but it also looked great doubled on the iPad.

DJ Baby is a well put, nicely developed simple app for playing DJ. Some loops and different sounds, a turntable for scratching and, there, you’ve got yourself a little DJ set. Fun to play with for a while, and do some little music in a very straightforward way.

The app is now on sale, so go ahead and spend those cents for your kid to have some music fun.

The Canupa Band Deluxe iPhone/iPod Touch app is cute, fun and really well put. Choose between a series of different animals and instruments to play with in a fun and educational way. Limited notes on the instruments are a help for easy compositions. The illustrations look great and there is always something funny to be expected from the little animals.

Here is one of a kind app. Sound Shaker is almost like an interactive art installation, mixing shapes, sounds and interaction beautifully. Peaceful, harmonic and yet entertaining this is certainly a nice experience we would like our kids to have. Make sure to see the video bellow to get a better idea.

Here is another app on the Itsy Bitsy Spider, this one a coloring book. Although the nice music, my 3 yo had a hard time choosing the colors on the pencils. I imagine it probably will work better for older kids.

Here is nice and well structured music app that will help introducing the basics of music for our little ones. Regardless of being called Baby Piano — which I figure helps people identify it with their first and very successful app Baby Flash Cards — this app works very well for toddlers too, helping them learn the basic scale, record their own songs and beyond.

With not many choices of music apps out there, this is certainly one of the best options!

Here is another great app from Duck Duck Moose, the creators of “Wheels on the Bus” and “Old MacDonald“. Just as the others, this is an interactive story where kids touch parts of the scenario to see it move and react, as the song goes on. Great graphics, great music and very entertaining, specially for the little ones.

Farm Idol is yet another iPhone app based on farms and animals theme, something that really seems to live widely on the kids imagination and thus is always welcome. On this app, the fun is simple and quick. Choose an animal and tap it while tilting your iPhone to get different music notes out of it and create instant songs. Something to keep your kid entertained and having fun, at least for a while.
