Silly Numbers is a cute counting app for toddlers starting to learn numbers. It goes from one to twelve with great sound and beautiful illustrations design for the iPad. Each number hides a little surprise, and something different happens when you interact with it!

Here is another great Sesame Street app from the guys of IDEO: Count TV. Very simple and straight forward. You pick a number and a related classic Sesame Street video about that number is shown inviting for some interactive counting with it after it runs for a while.

Amazing to see how the great Sesame Street formula is still working for today’s kids. It is already one of my son’s favorite apps, who doesn’t get tired of watching the videos over and over although he is way passed the 1-9 counting phase. And for us adults who watched those videos on TV when we were kids, what a nostalgia!

But if your favorite Sesame Street character is Bert, make sure to check this other great app by the same IDEO guys.

BabyCounting might not be the best app in voice and music out there but it is certainly great when it comes to working with the basic in numbers — counting, as the name tells. It comes 8 different exercises, from lifting a helicopter by counting backwards, to random number dialing practice and smaller and greater tasks. It is simple enough that little kids that already recognize the numbers can play with but still challenging for preschoolers.

The voice and the music bother me a bit, but the graphics are well done and the is exercise is certainly worth it, making it a good choice considering there isn’t much when it comes to counting in the iApps world.

The Birthday is interactive book that mixes story reading and some learning challenges such as number recognition, following patterns and counting. Although priced a little higher than other similar apps, it is still an interesting choice for app.

That’s the promisse from the guys at Tickle Tap Apps, and they sure keep it with the release of three iPhone apps for kids and three other already in the making.

From the first three, Sound Shaker, Sort Slider and Count Caddy, my kid’s favorite is Count Caddy. A very simple and straightforward app that helps memorizing the numbers sequence as well to visualize amounts relating it the appropriate numbers. The drawing is neat and clean, against a solid color background which in my opinion helps concentration.

Although a little bit more expensive than average apps, I think it is certainly worth the price. No need to save 1 dollar on your kid’s education when she/he is playing on a hundreds-dollars device, is it?
