Here is yet another app that plays around farm animals and sounds. For the very little ones, having those apps at hand is fun, educational and entertaining. Yes there are a lot of apps like this out there, but what makes a simple farm great are the details and the quality of the execution. And this is what we should have in mind when choosing what to offer our little ones to get faced with.

My Silly Sounds Farm is the kind of app in which the producers where really worried about every detail: beautiful illustrations, greatly recorded sound, and smart interaction. You can easily record your own sound for each of the animals and arrange them together to create a simple scene with the original animals sounds or your own recording.

Another great app for the first steps in the alphabet, is ABC Wildlife. This cute app has over 80 animals along with pictures and small movie clips of the actual animals. It has an interesting navigation proposition where you start from the alphabet but any other letter in the animals’ name is interactive and will let you explore other letters and animals names. Gracefuly produced, comes with versions for the iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch.

Here is one of the first apps my son played with and we are still in love with it, after going around getting to know a lot of what’s out there.

Peekaboo Barn is a simple and beautiful game, dedicated to teach first words either to toddlers and as a tool to start learning a second language as it comes in English and Spanish. Very easy to use, it allows even the most little ones start playing with it right away.

This is trully a must have.

Do you hear what I hear? Who makes that sound? Can you tell what has that shape?

‘Do You Hear’ is a flash-card like application but with a great touch of surprise to it. First we don’t get to see the image, but just the shape. Then we hear a sound and try to guess it! When touch the screen the image reveals.

The little ones can play by themselves with the game sound or, when you play along, you can turn the volume down and make the sound yourself.

The has the right length for bedtime read and even a ‘night night’ baby at the end. Certainly one worth having ‘on board’ of your device!

Do You Hear for the iPhone and iPod Touch. By WBSparks. 99¢

This is a long due needed review for probably one of the best apps for kids EVER made for the iPhone / iPod Touch. Here is the all-time classic Balloonimals. Plain and simple, an app that emulates the fun of creating animals of balloons. You blow, the balloon stretches, you shake it and it becomes and animal. Shake it a little more and… boom! It blows-up. Extremely well produced, great video, great sound effects, great everything.

The review was long due because this app was already out long before we started with the site. Nevertheless we could not have it on our TOP 10 APPs ‘hall of fame’.

Buubuu Zoo Jumble is a multilingual animal flash cards game and also a puzzle. It comes with 7 animals and 8 languages: English, Catalan, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese (Portugal), and you can also record your own voice or language if it is not there already.

But besides being very versatile, what is really great about this app is the graphics. Created by the Graphic Designer and Creative Director Stuart Eaton, the app has a gorgeous illustration style and the texture!

Although all the languages available, we would certainly like to see a few more animals added in future editions so the fun can last longer when playing with this one. Still, totally worth the buy.

With 3 scenarios, Animal Hide & Seek Adventure is a fun game that challenges kids to find hidden animals from the Jungle, Circus or the Ocean. The illustrations are beautiful and the music really elaborated, great for a fun time but also exposing our kids to quality art.

Children up to 3 will be more excited about this one, but it might do for older kids as well.

For the little ones there is a series of great apps, very clean, neat and straight-forward to work different themes. Tap & Learn: Animals, is one of those.

In this app, kids even under 1 can already start playing with choosing animals and learning their names with real animal sounds and great illustrations designed by a pre-schooler teacher.

Moms and dads will probably remember the little can that you would flip upside down and back to hear it moo. This app simply brings back the deal, with a choice of different ‘moos’ and even the option to record your own.

Simple enough for any kid to play with it and have some fun. Worth the price? Why not?

Here’s another great app from Tickle Tap. In Field Flier kids help Robin the bird to move around and do lots of fun things while developing motor skills and vocabulary. Fun and imaginative, has great illustrations, sound and interaction. Here is a description from the product page:
