How to redeem a promo code?

We often get lucky enough to be provided with application promo codes offered by the developers. Promo codes are basically gift cards that allow you to download an app for free! But how do you redeem a promo code? Not a silly question at all.

Considering you already have an iTunes Store account, follow the instructions bellow:

How to redeem an iTunes Gift Card on a computer

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. In the Source list (on the left side of the iTunes window), click iTunes Store.
  3. In the upper-right corner of the iTunes Store window, click the Sign In button. If you are already signed in, skip to step 5.
  4. Sign in to the iTunes Store using your iTunes account information.
  5. In the QUICK LINKS window in the right-hand column, click Redeem.
  6. In the resulting screen, the promo code you were given. Then, click Redeem.
  7. Once you’ve successfully redeemed your code, the app should start downloading automatically.

How to redeem an iTunes Gift Card on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Open the iTunes or App Store on your device.
  2. Tap Music from the bottom navigation bar if you’re in the iTunes Store, then scroll to the bottom of the page. If you’re using the App Store, tap Featured from the bottom navigation bar and scroll to the bottom of the page.
  3. Tap Redeem.
  4. In the text box, enter your promo code.
  5. When done, tap Redeem.
  6.  If you are not already signed in, you will be prompted to do so after tapping Redeem. Once you have successfully redeemed your code, you will see a Thank You page and the app should start downloading automatically.
