Great book apps of the month, part 2
Here is part 2 of a great book apps list that you just gotta have on your iPhone our iPad. These are apps created in a linear form of a storybook but full of interactivity. Book apps tend to be richer than usual text books from iBooks, as the authors can add just any depth of interactivity they want. The results are usually really creative.
Princess Arabella wants to play PlusBy RumdeeDum

“‘Princess Arabella wants to play’ is an interactive book suitable for children between the ages 4 and 10 years old. The story is based on the Princess Arabella books written by Mylo Freeman which are available at the bookstores. This interactive book presents a new story that’s especially developed for the iPad and iPhone. The story really comes to life through with extra features such as music, sound effects and animations.”

“Here’s a magical tale we’ve stitched together to encourage children’s to read at an early age – “The Emperor’s New Clothes”. Retold for your iPhone or iPad, this Hans Christian Anderson story will entertain your child and amuse you as much as it did when you first heard it as a child.”

The GobberwobblyBy Ice Cream Fine Storybooks

“Inside an ordinary house, inside an ordinary room, there lives the worst sort of monster you’d ever wish to meet… the dreadful and ferocious (and sock-eating) Gobberwobbly! But if you can catch one – which isn’t too hard if you know what to do – then you will have made your Gobberwobbly a tame thing and he will love you forever and ever. Just as the boy in this story finds out for himself, sometime during that long ago daydream that is youth.”

The Three Little Pigs - Zubadoo Animated StorybookBy Zubadoo Media Limited

“The Three Little Pigs is another beautifully illustrated, animated storybook from Zubadoo. It is time for the little pigs to leave their mother and make their own homes. They each build a new house, one from straw, one from wood and the other one from bricks. But they better watch out – there is a nasty wolf about! Will the new houses be strong enough to keep the little pigs safe? Listen to the narrator or read the story yourself to find out. The story is 16 pages long and just perfect for a bed-time read.”

Tommy Piglet and the Golden EggBy Three Little Witches
“An interactive children’s book for ages 2 to 6 about Elephant and Sheep trying to play a joke on Tommy Piglet. The beautiful drawings and story by Gitte Spee spring to life on the iPad. ‘It’s a beautiful evening and Sheep and Elephant are taking a walk on the beach. Thump! Sheep suddenly falls over on to the ground. She’s tripped over an egg, that is half hidden in the warm sand. But it is not an ordinary egg… The egg is enormous. Bigger than twenty normal size eggs put together! It’s a giant egg.’ The story is read by Linda Lee and is enriched with animations, background sounds and the song “We are the best of buddies, ” written specifically for the digital version of this booklet. But of course you can read it (out) yourself.”
